Gogebic County Emergency 911 Committee to Meet Friday Afternoon

BESSEMER, MI - Thursday, April 24, 2008 - The Gogebic County Emergency 911 Committee will be meeting at 2:00 PM CST in the Basement Conference Room of the Gogebic Country Courthouse, Bessemer, Michigan. The Committee will be discussing their limited options regarding the increased cost of Negaunee 911 combined with the ridiculously low surcharge cap being imposed by the Michigan Public Services Commission (MPSC). At the last meeting, the Committee agreed to join forces with other Michigan counties that have been put into the same situation by the MPSC ruling. The counties affected will be working together to try to reach a manageable, workable agreement with the MPSC. The cost of Negaunee dispatch has increased dramatically, and the amount the County is allowed to collect through telephone and cell phone surcharges has been severely limited by the MPSC.
