Two Vehicle Accident Near Grandview Lane

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Wednesday, April 02, 2008 - The Gogebic County Sheriff's Office has completed its investigation into a personal injury accident that occurred on Monday, March 31st at 4:22 PM, on US-2 near Grandview Lane. The investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Samantha Leskoviansky, 17 years old from Bessemer, was traveling westbound on US-2 when she lost control of her vehicle on snow covered roads and entered the path of an oncoming vehicle. The second vehicle was operated by John Pers, age 58, from Wakefield.

Both drivers were treated at Grandview Hospital for serious injuries resulting from the accident. Leskoviansky was later transferred to Duluth for further care. Pera was treated and released from Grandview.

Both vehicles sustained major damage and are considered a total loss.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Beacon Ambulance, Bessemer City Fire Department and the Bessemer Township Fire Department.
