City Welcomes New Community Development DirectorIRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, April 10, 2008 - A special Open House will be held at 5:30 PM CDT, at Tacconelli's on Suffolk Street in downtown Ironwood, on Thursday, April 11, 2008, to welcome Ironwood's new Community Development Director, Dan Petersen. Petersen was hired by City Manager Scott Erickson to fill the shoes of former Director Pat Merrill. He officially began working for the City on Monday, March 31, 2008, by attending manditory MSHDA training in Lansing, MI. Dan has an undergraduate degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration and a Masters Degree in Public Administration (currently being completed) from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids Michigan. Dan has had the experience of being a Legislative Aide for the Michigan State House of Representatives and also holds the position of County Commissioner in Greenville, MI. Petersen is single and he enjoys fishing and hunting. He told the Chronicle yesterday that he looks forward to serving the Ironwood area, and he is thilled to have this opportunity.
