Mariucci to Deliver Keynote at the U.P.H.S. All-Star Football Banquet

MARQUETTE, MI - Monday, April 21, 2008 - The U.P. Football All-Star Banquet has been scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2008. It is scheduled to take place at Northern Michigan University's Bottum University Center. An hor d'oeuvre reception will begin at 6:00 PM EST (5:00 PM CST). The main program will start at 7:00 PM EST (6:00 PM CST).

Steve Mariucci will deliver the keynote address at the Banquet. Mariucci is a native of Iron Mountain, Michigan. He was a standout athlete in high school. After graduating from Iron Mountain, he attended Northern Michigan University (NMU). In 1975, as quarterback of the NMU Wildcats, he too the team to the Division II National Championship.

After obtaining his degree from NMU, Mariucci went on to coach in the National Football League (NFL). He was Brett Favre's quarterback coach in Green Bay. He also served as head coach for both the San Francisco 49'ers and the Detroit Lions. He now works for the NFL Network as a football analyst.

Advance tickets are now on sale for the All-Start Banquet. The cost is $40 and there are a very limited number of tickets available. Interested people are encouraged to buy their tickets as soon as possible. Tickets will not be available at the door. All proceeds for the week's activities will be donated to The Beacon House and The U.P. Sports Hall of Fame, for which Steve Mariucci is an inducted member.
