
IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, April 11, 2008 - A Winter Storm
Warning remains in effect until 1 PM CDT Saturday.
Snow will remain
heavy at times today. Winds gusting to 35 mph will be possible through
tonight... reducing visibilities to less than a mile at times. The strongest
winds are expected near Lake Superior. Storm total snowfall amounts of 9 to 15
inches are expected by the time the heavy wet snow exits Saturday afternoon. The
least snow can be east of Iron River with the potential of sleet will mixing in
with the snow through early this afternoon.
A Winter Storm Warning
means significant amounts of snow and sleet are expected or occurring. Strong
winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or
impossible.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, MI, the Ironwood area
received between 5 and 7 inches of snow over the past 24
hours.
