Evan's Pawn Shop Burglarized Last Night
IRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, August 27, 2008 - The Ironwood Public Safety Department is investigating a break-in at Evan's Pawn Shop, 122 West Aurora Street, Ironwood. Officers are gathering evidence and the Chronicle will be updating this story as news becomes available. Investigator Rod Passuello is heading the case and Officer Mike Rimkus is lifting fingerprints and taking photographic evidence. The forced entry to the building was made by breaking the glass on the shop's front door. Anyone having any information about the break-in is urged to contact the Ironwood Public Safety Department at (906) 932-1234. UPDATE: IRONWOOD, MI - Thursday, August 28, 2008 - Ironwood Public Safety has arrested a 42 year old Ironwood man for a breaking and entering which occurred on August 27, 2008, at Evan’s Pawn Shop in Ironwood. Ironwood Public Safety received a report of the break-in at 7:30 AM on Wednesday. Officers responded and processed the crime scene. Taken in the burglary were numerous coins, gold jewelery, power tools, and firearms. During the investigation, Officers were able to gather enough information to obtain a search warrant for an apartment at 414 Silver Street. Officers executed the search warrant at approximately 10:00 PM last night. As a result of the search, nearly all of the stolen property was recovered, including the firearms. The suspect was taken into custody and lodged at the Gogebic County Jail with a bond of $50,000.00. The suspect has been charged with breaking and entering with additional charges of larceny and felon in possession of a firearm are expected today. Officers are also investigating a report of a Breaking and Entering at the VFW in Ironwood. At this time Officers do not believe the two break-ins are connected. |
