Out Of Control Tracker Damages Lowell Street Porch | |
|
IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, August 04, 2008 - At 11:03 PM last night officers from the Ironwood Public Safety Department (IPSD) responded to a one-car/one-house accident call. According to officials with the department, the driver of a 1995 Geo Tracker ran the stop sign where Norrie Street meets North Lowell Street. His vehicle crossed Lowell Street; jumped the curb; and crashed into the porch of the residence at 300 North Lowell Street. Extensive damage was caused to both the vehicle and the porch. The Lowell Street home is owned by Ken Stasiak. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the Grand View Hospital with minor injuries. After being treated, he was then charged with "Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated" and was lodged at the Gogebic County Jail. Tire marks, as well as the extensive damage to both the vehicle and porch, indicate that the vehicle was traveling at a relatively high rate of speed when it struck the porch. The accident report was not yet completed at the time of this report. The Chronicle will report more information as it becomes available. |
