Your Online Vote Can Help Local Couple Feed the Hungry
IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, August 23, 2008 - Kenn and Jeanne (Syreini) Miller are a local couple who have lived in Erwin Township in Ironwood for over 20 years. Jeanne was born in Ironwood and grew up in Wakefield. In the past they have volunteered to Belize, with a church group, the Peace Corps from 2003-2006 in Haiti and Jamaica. They recently returned from China after 6 weeks of teaching in XiNing Qinghai Provence in PR of China as English teachers. Kenn is a Manufacturing Engineer and Jeanne is a Registered Nurse. They were able to teach conversational English and how to listen and improve their speaking ability. It was a wonderful experience. Currently, the couple is seeking funding for a project to teach Haitian school children to grow crops. American Express is giving away 2.5 million dollars to worthy projects and they think they can make a difference with their project.
