IRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, August 06, 2008 - Both county-wide ballot proposals and the City's Civic Center proposal were approved by sizable margins in yesterday's primary election.
The Gogebic County Transit Renewal - "Should the millage rate of .33 mills for 4 years be renewed for the operation of the Gogebic County Transit System? The millage would raise $143,800 in its first year." Eighty percent of the 2,309 votes cast for this millage renewal voted for its approval. (Yes 1,847 - No 462).
The Gogebic-Ontonagon Senior Citizens Programs - "Should the millage rate of .60 mills for 4 years be increased for the operation of the Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Agency Senior Citizens programs? The millage would raise $273,197 in its first year." Almost 80.5% of the 2,298 votes cast for this millage renewal voted "yes". (Yes 1,849 - No 449).
The Pat O'Donnell Civic Center - "Should the millage rate of 1 mil be renewed for 4 years for operation of Pat O'Donnel Civic Center?" City of Ironwood voters passed the millage renewal for the Civic Center by better than a two-to-one margin. (Yes 488 - No 234).
