2 to 6 Inches of Snow Today and Tonight

MARQUETTE, MI - Thursday, December 11, 2008 - According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, MI, a lake effect Snow Advisory remains in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 6 am CST Friday.

Snow showers over The Porcupine mountains will begin to affect Ironwood... Wakefield... and Marenisco as winds become northwest. The snow could fall heavy at times through the evening... then diminish late tonight. Plan on 2 to 6 inches of snow to fall late today and tonight... with the greatest accumulation over higher terrain from Ironwood and Wakefield to The Porcupine mountains. The least snow is most likely near Watersmeet over far eastern Gogebic County.

A lake effect Snow Advisory Means Lake effect snow is forecast that will make travel difficult in some areas. Lake effect snow showers typically align themselves in bands and will likely be intense enough to drop several inches in localized areas. Use caution when traveling.
