Snowmobile Accident Results In Serious Injuries for Bessemer Man
BESSEMER, MI - Wednesday, December 10, 2008 - On December 9, 2008 at approximately 10:20 PM the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department responded to a personal injury snowmobile accident on Trail 2 East of Puritan Road in Bessemer. Upon arriving on the scene deputies learned that the injured driver had went off the trail and struck numerous trees. The driver ended up going down a twenty-foot embankment off of the trail. The snowmobile was a total loss as a result of the accident and the driver sustained serious injuries that required hospitalization. The driver, whose name is being withheld at this time, is a 60-year-old Bessemer resident. The accident is still under investigation, but it is believed that alcohol was a factor in the accident. The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Beacon Ambulance, the Bessemer Township Fire Department, Gogebic County Search and Rescue, and the Michigan State Police. The Department would also like to thank Kevin Jackson and Amy Kolesar who came across the accident; remained on scene; and guided emergency personnel to the victim. |
