BESSEMER, MI - Sunday, February 10, 2008 - Area firefighters were called to fight flames, extremely heavy smoke, bitter cold and deadly windchill as the Booby Hatch Bar at 217 East Sellar Street caught on fire. 

The Bessemer tavern is owned and operated by Ms. Cheryl Sowles, and it appears that the building will be a total loss. Details are sketchy at this time, but we will report new information as it becomes available. The source of the fire will not be fully determined until a comprehensive fire inspection is completed.

The Superior Chonicle was notified of the fire at 1:51 PM CST, and staff photographer Steve Frank immediately rushed to the scene.   VIDEO
