EAGLE RIVER, AK - Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - Former Ironwood resident Bernie Skud forwarded these photos to the Chronicle. Bernie now lives in Washington State, but he was born and raised on Michigan Avenue. Mr. Skud is an avid reader of the Chronicle and he wanted to share the photos a friend of his sent him.

Bernie's friend Ginger Beauchaine, lives in Eagle River, Alaska. The note that accompanied these photos said, "This is why everybody should carry a camera. It was -5 degrees. The sky was a deep blue and there was no wind. Last night's snow was still clinging to the tree branches. When the eagles landed the knocked the snow off the trees. These photos were taken 400 feet from our house in Eagle River, Alaska."

Thanks for sharing the photos! This isn't something you see every day!
