Cold, Cold, and More Cold
IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, January 20, 2008 - According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, Michigan, "A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until noon CST today." "West winds of 10 to 20 mph within the Arctic airmass in place will continue to hold wind chill readings down to 20 to 35 below zero for the rest of this morning. Expect wind chill readings to moderate this afternoon as temperatures rise."
"A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors... make sure you wear a hat and gloves." Cold temperatures are the call for today. Skies will be partly cloudy with scattered snow showers. Highs can be expected from between zero to 5 below. Winds will be out of the west with gusts of 10 to 15 mph. Wind chill readings 25 below to 35 below zero this morning.
Tonight, it is expected to be bitterly cold. The skies will be partly cloudy through midnight then becoming mostly cloudy. Lows of 17 below to 22 below zero inland to around 10 below at the shore should be expected. West winds of 5 to 10 mph will add to the chilling effect. Monday is Martin Luther King Day, and the Monday's forecast calls for continued cold temperatures. The will be mostly cloudy skies with a 20 percent chance of snow showers. Highs will be around 5 above. West winds of 5 to 10 mph will continue to bring in the very bitter cold weather. A 30 percent chance of snow showers can be expected Monday night.. Skies will be mostly cloudy with low temperatures around 9 below inland to around 3 below at the shore. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday will be partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of snow showers and highs around 7 above. West winds 5 to15 mph. Lowest wind chill readings 17 below to 27 below zero in the morning. Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow showers. Lows around 6 below are predicted. Tuesday night will be continued cold. Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Highs around 5 above. A 20 percent chance of snow showers can be expected on both Wednesday and Thursday.
