IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, January 28, 2008 - The Ironwood City Commission is scheduled to meet at 5:30 P.M., at the Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Ironwood Memorial Building tonight.

The Commission is expected to discuss and authorize advertisement for bids to replace a camera used in the sewer department for televising sanitary sewer lines. They are also scheduled to consider advertisement for bids to replace the hand held auto-read programmer used for entering meter reading data into the billing system.

In addition, they will consider and authorize Request for Proposals (RFP) for engineering consulting services for the Greenbush Street (U.S. 2 to Margaret Street) reconstruction project, and they will call for a re-bid of fire hydrant replacement project (replacing 20 fire hydrants).

Also on the agenda for tonight's meeting, the Commission will consider a request from the Sports Hall of Fame Committee for permanent use of the Women's Club Room in the Memorial Building. The Hall of Fame previously asked the Commission for permission to permanently mount their plaques on the walls of the Women's Club Room. The original Women's Club, not be confused with the Ironwood Area Business & Professional Women's Club, was largely responsible to erecting the Memorial Building, completed in 1923 for $500,000. It was one of many projects fostered by the Ironwood Women's Club.

The Commission is also expected to discuss and consider awarding consulting Engineering Services to Coleman Engineering for the Jesseville Area Sanitary Sewer and Water Project. At the January 14th meeting, representatives of the Ironwood engineering firm pointed out that they are local; they've devoted many hours to the project already; their bid is fair and reasonable; and they do a lot for the City and the community.

Bids for the City-Wide reappraisal are also expected to be discussed and considered at this meeting.
