Lakeshore Drive Roadwork Continues in Ashland

ASHLAND, WI - Tuesday, July 29, 2008 - Major reconstruction of Ashland's Lakeshore Drive (US-2) continues. All underground infrastructure is being updated, and the US Highway will be completely resurfaced once the job is complete. These photos were taken at the mid-point of the construction on the corner of Lakeshore Drive and Ellis Avenue (the Holiday Gas Station corner).

Notice in one of the photos, there is a sign on the Ellis Avenue corner lot across from Holiday declaring that a new Walgreens will be locating there shortly.

US Highway 2 (Lakeshore Drive) is restricted to one lane of westbound traffic. Eastbound traffic or those wishing to get to Lakeshore businesses along the southern edge of the highway are detoured through the Downtown. Temporary wayfinder signage directs travelers to the various business detours. The construction site begins at Beaser Avenue to the west and 5th Avenue East.
