Chopper Overhead!
IRONWOOD, MI - Thursday, July 24, 2008 - A helicopter circled the Norrie location several times yesterday. It is believed that the aircraft was surveying the area to map out utility lines for the ongoing roadway reconstruction taking place there. The Alfred Wright Boulevard reconstruction project is a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Small Urban Grant Program project. According to MDOT records the total cost of the 0.68 mile reconstruction project is $852,000. The Boulevard from McLeod Avenue to Lime Street is being completely reconstructed. Water and waste lines are being replaced. New gutters, catch basins, sidewalks and curbs will be installed. Utility poles have been relocated to allow for a paved talking trail on one side of the street. The City's share of the cost, according to the MDOT report, is $477,000 and the State's share is $375,000. |
