Cloquet, MN to Close Their Skate Park

CLOQUET, MN - Thursday, July 17, 2008 - The skate park in Cloquet, Minnesota is being closed due to excessive vandalism and chronic nighttime problems. Most of the equipment has already been removed, and the sign in the photo below demonstrates the damage to the park.

"I couldn't be happier!" a local businessman told the Chronicle, "My business suffered because people were afraid to come near that park. I fix cars and my customers park their cars out there. You wouldn't believe the damage!"

Another area businesswoman told the Chronicle, "It's ridiculous! The City went and found the funds to build the park. They spent all that time and money building it, and the kids destroyed it. The park wasn't a good idea from the beginning. Any place designed for kids needs to be well lit and supervised. That's just common sense!"
