Tonight Chinese

CABLE, WI - Friday, June 20, 2008 - Yesterday, I was driving through Cable, Wisconsin, and I stopped at a local bar and grill. As I entered the establishment I noticed an oriental couple sitting at a table in the dining room. As I was entering, the waitress was delivering their food. The man's plate was loaded with a big rack of baby back ribs, a steaming-hot baked potato and a fresh garden salad. The woman's plate had a huge sizzling New York Strip accompanied by a generous portion of French Fries. The food looked fantastic, but I had just eaten, so I went to the restroom and then stopped in the bar.

I sat at the bar and asked the propietor, "How's business?"

"It's been quite slow, actually." the bar owner told me.

As I started to order a Diet Pepsi, the bartender cut my order short.

"I'm sorry sir. I can't serve you tonight!" the bartender explained.

"Why not?" I asked.

"It's plain and simple, sir! I just can't serve you tonight. You obviously don't belong here, and, quite frankly, you will have to leave!"

"What the heck!" I thought, "What kind of odd duck behavior is that?"

I left the tavern/eatery in a huff. I couldn't believe anybody would be kicked out of a place simply for trying to order a Diet Pepsi. As I was driving out of the lot, I notice the sign shown in the picture above. I guess, I won't be stopping back there until the sign reads, "TONIGHT LEBANESE, SWEDISH, FRENCH AND NATIVE AMERICAN MIXES!"

It's no wonder the guy's business is slow! I don't think the Cable area has a large enough Chinese population to serve only Chinese people on any given night.
