2008 Lake Superior Ren Faire Continues at Norrie Park Today

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, June 22, 2008 - The 2008 Lake Superior Renaissance Faire, located in the majestic setting of Norrie Park in Ironwood, Michigan along side the beautiful Montreal River, began yesterday and will continue today.

According to the Ren Faire website, www.lakesuperiorrenfaire.com, "The Faire has been 'Reborn' after a long hiatus. Plans for this  years Faire are grander and  more active with twice the area to play with. More games, more authenticity and more enthusiasm than ever before. Medieval and Renaissance enthusiasts from near and far are joining together to give the Faire real flare and excitement. Join us for a festive romp in the mystical 'Shire of Lochenwold' as we relive the best of times between the Seventh and the Seventeenth Centuries."

An Actors' and Bards' Guilde provides entertainment for all tastes. The Artisans' Guilde showcases a variety of artists and craftsmen at work, and gives faire-goers the opportunity for hands-on participation. The 'Field of Honor' and 'Soft-Sword' courts have always been popular with faire visitors, and some friendly competitions in these venues are at this year's faire.

Tour the Medieval Encampment, watch Fencing Demonstrations in the fighting rings, shop for Handcrafted items in the Marketplace and indulge in excellent Food and Drink from proud purveyors.

Entrance fee: $5.00 per day for Adults, $4.00 for Adults in costume, Children  6 yrs and under are free.

Weapons with sharp edges or blades must be "peace tied" and remain sheathed. No weapons will be allowed on Faire Grounds that present a potential hazard to other fairegoers (This does however exclude actors and vendors in appropriate areas.)
