Notice of City Commission Meeting
IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, March 10, 2008 -The Ironwood City Commission will hold it's regularly scheduled bi-weekly meeting at 5:30 PM CST tonight at the City Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Ironwood Memorial Building. On the agenda for tonight, the Commission will consider the approval of various charitable fund-raisers throughout the area, including the Knights of Columbus, AMVETS, and the American Legion. They will also consider scheduling two public hearings for April 15 to discuss demolition of two badly blighted houses within the City. The first one at will be at 5:15 PM to discuss the house at 305 South West Street and the second one will be at 5:20 PM to discuss the house at1100 East Cloverland Drive. The Commission is also expected to consider the approval of Traffic Control Order No. 87 for One Hour Parking between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM on regular business days on McLeod Avenue between Memorial Drive and Marquette Street (in front of the Memorial Building). Bob Tervonen, Water Utility Manager, will be presenting his year-end report to the Commission as well. Other topics to be discussed and considered tonight include: (1) Granting a license to Wesley Action for the operation of a taxicab service in the City of Ironwood; (2) approval of ballot language to renew the previous one mill for operations of the Pat O'Donnell Civic Center for a period of four years from 2009-2012 inclusive, and (3) approval of a Young Citizen Scholarship award to be given to an Ironwood High School Student. Also expected for this evening's meeting will be Mayor's Appointments to the Ironwood Planning Commission and the DIDA. The Chronicle contacted City Clerk's office today and was informed that there were two openings for the Planning Commission and three applicants - (1) John Kasieta, (2) Sam Davey, and (3) Janet Coleman. There is one opening on the DIDA, with only one applicant - Louise Demasi. The Chronicle will have a full report as well as audio and video coverage of the meeting as soon as it is available.
