Fire Claims Life of Ironwood Resident

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, March 23, 2008 - An early morning fire has claimed the life of a 51 year old Ironwood resident. Kimleigh Abigail Tucker, 220 E Coolidge Ave, Ironwood perished in a fire at her home.

Ironwood Public Safety was dispatched at 4:23 am on Sunday, March 23, 2008 to a reported structure fire with flames through the roof. Beacon Ambulance and Ironwood Fire Department arrived on scene at 4:27. Officers found the second story of the residence fully engulfed in flame. Firefighters entered the residence using air packs and located the victim on a second floor landing at the head of the stairs.

The fire was under control at 5:48 am. The State Fire Marshall has been contacted and will be in Ironwood today to conduct his investigation.

Assisting the Fire Department were Beacon Ambulance, Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department, Hurley Police Department , Excel Energy, and the Red Cross.
