HOPE's Kirchhoff Discusses Saturday's Open House & House Auction

IRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, March 19, 2008 - HOPE Animal Shelter's Randy Kirchhoff appeared on WJMS' The Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club with Sam Erspamer yesterday.

Kirchhoff told Erspamer about the sealed bid auction on a Newport Heights house that HOPE is holding. The house was generously donated to HOPE by former Ironwood City dispatcher Keith Anderson. Last summer, Anderson found his "dream home" in Montreal. He had considered leaving the house to HOPE in his will, but decided instead to donate it to them now.

The house needed a little work to ready it for sale, so HOPE volunteers rose to the task. Bert and Edna Tatham, Bruce Jackson, Jim Salmi, Beverly Nasi, Pauline Zani and Kirchhoff himself put in many hours cleaning, sprucing up, and painting the house.

"HOPE doesn't want to be in the real estate business, so we thought maybe the best option was to put it out on a sealed bid type of auction. HOPE will benefit from the sale of the house, and whoever purchases the house will also get a good deal." Kirchhoff told Erspamer.

Kirchhoff said interested persons should contact HOPE. Further information about the house (including spec sheets) is available at the shelter. He reminded the WJMS audience that there will be another open house this Saturday, March 22, 2008, from 11:00 AM CST to 3:00 PM CST. The photos included in our slideshow and with this article were taken from HOPE's website. The web address for HOPE is www.hopeanimalshelter.org.

Kirchhoff could not recall the exact size of the lot that is included with the house, but he said it's pretty big. The house itself is about 1000 square feet and the back yard is quite large and is fenced off. The property line goes approximately 100 feet beyond the fence, Kirchhoff noted.
