IVFD Pre-Memorial Day Car Wash Is A Success!

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, May 18, 2008 - The Ironwood Volunteer Fire Department held it's Pre-Memorial Day Car Wash at Wal-Mart on Saturday. We contacted Fire Chief Ken Jacobson to see how everything went.

Here's what Ken had to say, "First of all,  thanks to all of the folks who came to our annual car wash and generously donated to our cause.  Special thanks to Wal-Mart for use of the facilities and to Dick Thomason of Bessemer Plywood for his very generous donation.  Also to the local media outlets for their support in promoting the car wash. Ironwood volunteer firefighters, friends and family members gathered under a mostly sunny sky at Wal-Mart Saturday for the department's annual Pre-Memorial Day Car Wash. In operation from 10-2, there was a steady stream of customers, with only a few lulls in the action. A couple of individuals were so pleased with the wash job that they went home to get a second vehicle to wash! The weather was perfect for the car wash, not too hot, not too sunny, and the predicted downpour held off until after the car wash had concluded. A credit to the department's 'crack weather forecaster' who shall remain nameless. The total collected after expenses should be enough for us to again sponsor an Ironwood Little League girls' baseball team, and to continue progress on a couple other projects. As usual, the participants enjoyed a lot of fun and camaraderie and even better, the fire chief managed to escape this year without getting 'accidentally' soaked by a hose!"
