City Commission Scheduled to Meet at 5:00 PM Today

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, May 12, 2008 - The Ironwood City Commission will be meeting tonight beginning at 5:00 PM, CST, for three public hearings with their regular meeting to be held at 5:30 PM, CST.

The first public hearing scheduled for 5:00 PM is to hear comment regarding an ordinance to vacate Sepplan Street east of First National Street at the alley that runs North and South and bisects Blocks 1 and 2 of Assessor's Plat No. 13.

The second public hearing scheduled for 5:10 PM is to hear comment regarding an ordinance to rezone 501 Wilson Street from R-1 (Single Family Residential) to C-3 (Highway Commercial).

The third public hearing scheduled for 5:20 PM is to hear comment regarding an ordinance establishing a R-1 (Single Family Residential) overlay for the following C-3 (Highway Commercial) parcels: 619 East Cloverland Drive; 623 East Cloverland Drive; and 625 East Cloverland Drive.

The regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 PM should involve the following issues:

Bids for Patrol Car - Authorize advertisement for bids for a new patrol vehicle for Ironwood Public Safety Department (IPSD) through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development. (Consent Agenda Item)

Cemetery Trust & Library Capital - Authorize an updated custodial agreement with National City Bank to hold and invest the funds for the Cemetery Trust Fund and the newly requested Library Capital Projects Funds. (Consent Agenda Item)

Hydrant Replacement - Discuss and consider awarding lowest bid to Ross Peterson in the amount of $107,249.50 for the replacement of 20 fire hydrants.

New Taxi Cab Service License - Discuss and consider granting a license for the operation of taxicab service in the City of Ironwood to Randy Kashieh of Ramsay, Michigan.

Charitable Gaming License for Sports Hall of Fame - Discuss and consider a resolution recognizing the Ironwood Area Sports Hall of Fame Foundation as a non-profit organization operating in the community for the purpose of obtaining Charitable Gaming Licenses.

Extending Auditing Contract - Discuss and consider approving one-year extension of the auditing contract with Joki, Makela & Pollack, P.C. for the fiscal year 2009-2010 with no rate increase.

Sale of Waste Mine Rock to Globe Industries - Discuss and consider request from Globe Industries to purchase city owned waste mine rock at $ .50 per cubic yard for a contract period of two years.

Cemetery Lawn Mowing & Trimming - Discuss and consider awarding bid for a 2 year contact for Lawn Mowing and Trimming at Riverside Cemetery.

City Parks Lawn Mowing & Trimming - Discuss and consider awarding bid for a 2 year contract for Lawn Mowing and Trimming at the City Parks.

City Commission meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 PM. As always, the general public is welcome and urged to attend.
