Exhuming Dead Weasel Becomes a Learning Experience

IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, May 02, 2008 - Back in 2005 Steve Frank and his daughter Becca discovered a dead weasel while they were walking through Norrie Park. They decided to take the dead body home and bury it in Steve's back yard.

On Wednesday, they chose to exhume the body to see what happened to it after being buried for three years. They dug up the burial site and had a bit of trouble finding the remains. Steve took a screen off of his window so they could sift through the dirt. Becca immediately started digging for signs of the deceased weasel.

As she sifted through the dirt, she found most of the weasel's bones. She gently placed them on the clean half of the screen – to examine later. Steve explained to Becca which bones went where. They discussed the process of decomposition. They talked about death and they talked about life. Becca learned a lot from her father on Wednesday. And her father learned a lot too.
