Relatively Few Memorial Day Weekend Visitors to the Harbor | |
|
BLACK RIVER HARBOR, MI - Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - Very few people visited Black River Harbor over the Memorial Day Weekend. Normally, this local hot spot is crawling with anglers, campers, and tourists on the weekend that officially launches the summer season. Perhaps the combination of cooler temperatures and the high price of gas and diesel could be having an effect. Several Downtown Ironwood merchants reported a relatively good weekend, however. The high fuel costs could have a positive impact on certain local business trade. For example, local home centers and lumber yards may see an increase in business due to the fact that traveling 90 or more miles to save $100 is no longer practical. Whether or not the Harbor is visited, doesn't change the fact that it is one of the most beautiful areas in the region. |
