Three Public Hearings Cause Early City Commission Meeting Monday

IRONWOOD, MI - Sautrday, November 08, 2008 - Three public hearings are scheduled to preceed Monday night's regular City Commission meeting. At 5:00 PM there will be a public hearing to introduce Ordinance No. 469, Book 4 an Ordinance to prohibit the feeding of pigeons and/or gulls. At 5:10 PM there will be another public hearing to introduce Ordinance No. 470, Book 4, and Ordinance to regulate outdoor furnaces. And then at 5:15 PM there will be a final public hearing to introduce Ordinance No. 471, Book 4, an Ordinance to Amend Chapter 10, Article IV, Tax Exempt Housing – Towering Pines Development.

The regular meeting of the City Commission is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM. The following items are expected to be approved through the Consent Agenda. Consent Agenda items are supposed to be relatively non-controversial mondane business affairs that need to be acted on. The general public does have a right to have any item moved from the Consent Agenda to the regular agenda in order for there to be discussion on the item, however:

  • Approval of Minutes – October 27th Regular City Commission Meeting.
  • Review and Place on File:
    • Planning Commission Meeting Minutes of October 1st.
    • Downtown Ironwood Development Authority Meeting Minutes of October 23rd.
  • Approve Resolution #08-020 Recognizing the Ironwood Chamber of Commerce as a Nonprofit Organization.
  • Approve Resolution #08-021 for the Water Supply System and Resolution # 08-022 for the Sewage Disposal System authorizing Notice of Intent to issue Revenue Bonds and Declaration of Intent to Reimburse (Water & Sewage Disposal System).
  • Consider application for Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption (IFT) from Jacquart Fabric Products and schedule a Public Hearing for Monday, November 24th at 5:20 P.M.

At Monday night's meeting the following issues are expected to be acted on by the Commission:

  • Discuss and consider action regarding temporary designation of snowmobile route on Lake Street and Greenbush Street North from Trail #2 to Margaret Street (City Limits) for Sledfest Weekend December 10th – 14th, 2008.

 

     

  • Update on MDOT changes to the Winter Maintenance on US 2 & BR 2.
  • Mayor’s Appointment
  • Manager’s Report

Following the open session portion of the meeting the Commission is expected to Consider to discuss the status of contract negotiations with AFSCME, Local 1538 and Ironwood Professional Police Association Unions in closed session.

No action is expected to take place following the closed session.
