Public Hearing Creates an Early Start for Monday's Commission Meeting

IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, November 22, 2008 - The Ironwood City Commission will be holding a Public Hearing in addition to its Regular Meeting on Monday, November 24, 2008. The Public Hearing will begin at 5:20 PM and the Regular Meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM. Both meetings will be conducted at the City Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Ironwood Memorial Building. 

The Public Hearing has been added to the Commission's agenda to hear comment relative to an application for an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption (IFT) Certificate filed by Jacquart Fabric Products, 1238 Wall Street, Ironwood, Michigan.

During the Regular Meeting, the Commission is expected to conduct the following business:

The Consent Agenda is a list of items that the Commission approves in one fell swoop. Generally, Consent Agenda items are mundane clerical issues that require no discussion. Occasionally, however, either Commissioners or citizens feel that Consent Agenda items are worth discussion. If that is the case, they have the right to request those items to be added to the regular agenda.

There is only one Consent Agenda Item to be considered Monday:

  • 1) Approval of Minutes – November10th Regular City Commission Meeting.

Other business matters to be considered Monday include: 

  • Receive and Place on File from Finance Director.
    • Statement of Revenue & Expenditures.
    • Monthly Cash Reports.
  • Consider approving Resolution for an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption (IFT) Certification filed by Jacquart Fabric Products, 1238 Wall Street.
  • Consider scheduling a Public Hearing for Monday, December 8th at 5:15 P.M. to discuss an Ordinance No. 471, Book 4, an Ordinance to provide for a service charge in lieu of taxes for a proposed multiple family dwelling project, located on Ayer Street – Towering Pines Development.
  • Discuss and Consider recommendation of City EDC to restructure loan agreement with Dr. Marcia Toohey to extend EDC loan payments to June 2010, with a balloon payment due at that time for the remaining principal balance and authorize appropriate city staff to sign said contract.
  • Discuss and Consider recommendation of the Planning Commission to not rezone Ayer Street Property at this time and leave the entire area open space.
