City Plows Called Out for the First Time this Season

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, November 09, 2008 - City plows were called out for the first time this season this morning. A considerable amount of snow is in the forecast.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, "A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM CST this Evening."

Lake enhanced snow will fall heavy at times through early this afternoon... then begin to diminish. An additional heavy... wet snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will be possible today. The snow will diminish tonight into Monday. The slushy snow... in addition to freezing drizzle that occurred last evening... could make travel hazardous on untreated surfaces.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

  • Tonight snow showers are likely. Snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches. Lows 23 to 28. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.
  • Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Highs around 32. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph.
  • Tomorrow night will be mostly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of snow showers in the evening...then just partly cloudy after midnight. Lows 13 to 18 inland to around 26 at the shore. Light winds.
  • On Tuesday, Veteran's Day, weather is predicted be mostly sunny. Highs around 37. Light winds.
