Facade Improvements Spruce Up Downtown Area
IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, October 27, 2008 - At a recent City Commission meeting, Community Development Director Dan Petersen gave an update on the progress of the Downtown MSHDA Facade Grant Program. According to Petersen, five business facades have been completed through the program: (1) Pizza King Joe's; (2) Mattson's TV and Appliance Store; (3) Northlight Photography; (4) Creative Spirits and (5) the Uptown Cafe. Petersen told the Commission that Coleman Engineering is now completing their second phase of the program. During the first phase the Engineering firm had their soffits replaced, and now they ware working on siding improvements to their Ayer Street building. Pizza King Joe's, Creative Spirits, and the Uptown Cafe, were all resided. Mattson's TV and Appliance, Northlight Photography received new windows and entry doors on their front facades. Star Lite Construction of Hurley is currently residing Coleman Engineering. According to Petersen, eight downtown facade projects are still pending: (1) Sam Misuraco's Suffolk Street Building; (2) Woodtech Builders; (3) Ironwood Glass; (4) Swanson Studios; (5) Gordon Bye Apartments; (6) Gogebic Mechanical; (7) Olde Suffolk Ale House; and (8) Triple L Properties. |
