GCC Holds October Board of Trustees Meeting Tuesday
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - The Fall enrollment report was given by Dean of Students Steve Wesselhoft at last night's meeting of the Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees. Headcount at GCC this fall is up 4%, with 628 full time students and 386 part time students. Credit hours taken by student is also up 6% over last year, from 11,356 in 2007 to 12,062 this fall. These figures mark the third consecutive year for increases in both headcount and credit generation at Gogebic. Nearly 75% of GCC's student population takes courses on the Ironwood campus, with another 12% taking classes over the internet, and an additional 12% attending Gogebic Community College classes in the Copper Country. In other action, the Board approved the strategic plan for the college. The College's Fiscal and Strategic Planning Committee worked with Northern Initiatives of Marquette over a six-month period to develop this strategic planning document that will be used to guide the college through the next three to five years. The five-year Campus Master Maintenance Plan was also approved to be submitted to the state budget office. This plan is required annually to be placed on the State's Capital Outlay List for future funding for major projects. |
