Jack Frost Festival of Lights Parade Theme Announced
IRONWOOD, MI - Thursday, October 23, 2008 - The 14TH Annual Jack Frost Festival of Lights Parade planning is under way. The theme "A Storybook Christmas" coincides with the grand parade marshals, the Friends of the Library and the Carnegie Library, said Chamber Director, Kim Kolesar. The date of the parade is Friday, December 5, at 6:00 PM. The registration deadline is Monday, November 24. Forms are available on the Ironwood Chamber's web site at www.ironwoodmi.org , and at their office, located in the Old Depot Museum. Candy Cane Court will again be located at River Valley State Bank. Kids may visit Santa, Mrs. Claus and Jack Frost directly after the parade in the bank lobby and at the same time view the wonderful gingerbread house display made by area children and adults. A WUPM Radio live broadcast will be held on the day of the Jack Frost Parade from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Hitt's Fine Furniture. WIMI Radio is once again sponsoring the Jack Frost Store Window Decorating Contest and is open to all Ironwood businesses. The winner will receive an advertising certificate from the radio station and the official Jack Frost Store Window Decorating Traveling Trophy to display at their business until next year's festival. For more contest information, contact WIMI Radio at (906) 932-2411. The Ironwood Chamber will be holding their annual $10,000 Jack Frost raffle. Tickets cost $100.00. Only 200 tickets are sold. First prize is $5,000 and there are 7 more great cash prizes. Numbers will be drawn at the Carnegie Library prior to the start of the parade and then displayed on the Ironwood Fire Department truck in the parade. The Ironwood Business & Professional Women's Club will also be holding their annual 50/50 raffle. Tickets cost $1.00. Any street vendor, group or organization who would like to sell food or crafts on parade night must fill out a vendor registration form available at the Ironwood Chamber office. There are many ways to participate and share in the excitement of the Jack Frost Festival. Enter a float, organize an event, sell your merchandise, make a Gingerbread House or help organize festival activities. MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - The next meeting of the Jack Frost Festival Committee will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008, 12:00 PM at Manny's Restaurant, 316 East Houk Street, Ironwood, Michigan. The Committee welcomes ANY and ALL PEOPLE willing to help with the Jack Frost Festival.
