All Boards City Meeting to Be Held Tuesday Evening

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, October 19, 2008 - The City of Ironwood will be holding a special meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 5:30 PM in the Auditorium of the Ironwood Memorial/Municipal Building. The purpose of this meeting is to allow members and organizations in the City to interact and get acquainted with initiatives that other groups are heading up.

"I would ask that the chairperson, or a designee, be ready to give a brief five minute overview of the group's role and purpose and the group's efforts." Dan Petersen, Community Development Director, said in a press release.

Individuals who sit on the various boards within the City are encouraged to come, listen, and participate.

"We will also engage in an activity that aims at identifying opportunities for groups to work with one another to achieve common goals and objectives." Petersen said, "It is my hope that this event encourages communication and resource sharing, and begins the process of identifying the common challenges, and the options that exist to remedy them."

The meeting is open to the public. Invited to the meeting were members of (1) the Ironwood City Commission; (2) the Ironwood Planning Commission; (3) the Downtown Ironwood Development Authority; (4) the Ironwood Economic Development Corporation; (5) the Ironwood Industrial Development Corporation; (6) the Ironwood Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; (7) the Blight Committee; (8) the Parks and Recreation Committee; (9) the Ironwood Carnegie Library Board; (10) the Pat O'Donnell Civic Center Board; (11) the Gogebic County Economic Development Director; (12) the Community Action Agency Continuum of Care; (13) the Ironwood Area Historical Society; (14) the Gogebic Community College Board of Directors; (15)  the Gogebic County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors; (16) the Beautiful Northwoods; (17) the City of Ironwood Department Heads; and (18) the City of Ironwood Housing Commission.  For more information contact Dan Petersen, Community Development Director at (906) 932-5050 ext. 126.
