Two Men Die In Separate Vilas County Boating Accidents

VILAS COUNTY, WI - Monday, September 01, 2008 - Two separate boating incidents in Vilas County over the Labor Day weekend have resulted in the deaths of two men.

According to the Vilas County sheriff's department, a 38-year-old man from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin died Saturday in a tubing accident on Saint Germain Lake in St. Germain, Wisconsin.

Lt. Gary Peske told reporters that they have arrested the driver of the boat and they plan on referring the case to the Vilas County District Attorney for possible charges.

Within an hour of the tubing accident, a 55-year-old man from Port Edwards, Wisconsin also drowned on Saturday, after falling into North Turtle Lake in Winchester, Wisconsin.

According to police reports, Sheriff's Deputies responded to the North Turtle Lake incident after a call came in stating that a woman was frantically yelling that her husband had fallen overboard.

Sheriff's Lt. Gary Peske says deputies were unable to locate the victim immediately, but they did find his body Sunday morning.
