City Commission to Meet at 5:05 PM Tomorrow Evening

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, September 07, 2008 - The Ironwood City Commission will be meeting early tomorrow. Because of a Board of Zoning Appeals public hearing and two other public hearings, the Commission is scheduled to meet at 5:05 PM instead of  the usual 5:30 PM.

5:05 PM PUBLIC HEARING - The Commission in the role of the "Board of Zoning Appeals" will be holding a public hearing to hear comment relative to constructing a replacement garage and attaching it to the dwelling at 332 West Southland Avenue. The dimensional variance request is from Jeanne Krause.

5:15 PM PUBLIC HEARING (TO BE RESCHEDULED) - A public hearing was scheduled to introduce Ordinance No. 468, Book 4, an Ordinance to entirely repeal existing Chapter 34 (entitled "Zoning"), including Section 34-1 through 34-495 of the Code of the City of Ironwood, and to amend said code by adopting in place thereof new sections which shall be designated as Chapter 34, Sections 34-1 through 34-506, together with table of contents and all subsections thereof, and to be Chapter 34 (entitled "Zoning"), of the City of Ironwood Code of Ordinances. This hearing is set to be rescheduled to September 22, 2008 (See Below).

A copy of the Revised Chapter 34 "ZONING" is available for review in the City Clerk's office.

5:25 PM PUBLIC HEARING - A public hearing is scheduled for the Commission to hear comment relative to the Housing Resource Fund Grant and on the proposed 2008 Housing Grant Application for the component of homeowner assistance in the Norrie Location in the amount of $200,000.

5:30 PM REGULAR MEETING - The regular meeting of the City Commission is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM. Through the consent agenda, the following actions are expected to be taken:

• Approve name change of the "Recreation/Cultural/Life Enrichment Committee" to the "Parks & Recreation Committee."
• Approve submittal of a notice of intent for a 2009 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant for Flood Mitigation Assistance to the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management.
• Re-schedule Public Hearing from Monday, September 8, 2008 to September 22, 2008 at 5:20 P.M. to introduce Ordinance No. 468, Book 4 an Ordinance to entirely repeal existing Chapter 34 (entitles "Zoning"), including Section 34-1 through 34-495 of the Code of the City of Ironwood, and to amend said code by adopting in place thereof new sections which shall be designated as Chapter 34, Sections 34-1 through 34-506, together with table of contents and all subsections thereof, and to be Chapter 34 (entitles "Zoning"), of the City of Ironwood Code of Ordinances.
• Authorize advertisement of demolition of a structure at 712 Sutherland Street.
• Designate City Manager Scott B. Erickson as the MML Convention Delegate and the alternative City Clerk Karen M. Gullan.

Items to be discussed and considered on the regular agenda include:

• Resolution #08-018 amending the City of Ironwood General Appropriations Act and Fee Schedule adopting a "Special Event" Water Rate.
• Action to take the development hold off of the City-owned property best described as the northwest four (4) acres of the parcel located southeast of the intersection of Bonnie and Ayer Streets, taking that property off of the surplus property list and advertising for bids to sell the property. This is to clear the way for Jerry Pisani to build several commercial storage building at that location.
