Gogebic County E911 Committee to Meet Thursday
The meeting will feature a conference call with the State of Michigan's 911 Administrator Harriet Miller-Brown. The Committee is looking to Ms. Miller-Brown for her advice on the situation Gogebic County's Enhanced 911 system is currently undergoing. In May voters will decide whether or not the safety and peace-of-mind having enhanced 911 service in Gogebic County is worth the price of a cup of coffee each month. Voters will have the right to decide whether or not they are willing to pay a maximum of $1.65 per telephone line to insure continued service to the county. Currently, Gogebic County's 911 Dispatch service is being done by the Negaunee Dispatch of the Michigan State Police. Gogebic County is presently negotiating with Iron County, Michigan to determine whether or not it is feasible and in the best interest of the County to change over to Iron County Dispatch (Iron River, MI). |
