Water Break On Cloverland Drive Reduces Traffic to Two Lanes

IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, April 04, 2009 - A broken eight inch water main on the 600 block of Cloverland Drive forced traffic along US Highway 2 to bottleneck into only two lanes this morning and afternoon. At 6:30 this morning City crews were called out to make the repair. The Superior Chronicle was notified of the break by Dr. Marsha M. Toohey early this morning.  Water was bubbling up on the highway in front of the Ironwood Chiropractic Clinic that she owns and operates.

City crews carefully analysed the situation and quickly determined approximately where the broken main was located. Two lanes of the highway were blocked to traffic to allow the repair to be made. City water workers immediately began removing the asphalt and concrete to expose the broken waterline.

Several businesses and residences along the highway are currently without water, but the water crews are diligently working to restore service as soon as possible. The Chronicle will update our readers regularly on the situation.
