Klassic Kruisers to Hold Kruising for Kans Food Drive
IRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - Over the next two weeks, the Klassic Kruisers Car Club will be conducting a food drive to benefit the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. At each of their last two special events, the Kruisers will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items and/or cash that will be given to the Food Pantry. In exchange for each donation, the donor’s name will be entered into a drawing for the grand prize of a variety of gift certificates from local restaurants. The first special event is the Drive-In Movie Night to be held on Wednesday, August 26, at the Sunnyside Plaza (sponsored by North Star Electronics) on the west end of Ironwood. Admission will be $5.00 per car, or one non-perishable food item per person in the car, to go to the food pantry. Each donation earns an entry into the drawing. The movie that night will be and oldie but a goodie, The Long, Long Trailer (1954) starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. A snack concession stand will be available. The gate will open at 6:00 PM, with the movie shown at dusk. This event is open to the public. The last event is the car club’s Grand Finale Cruise Night on Wednesday, September 2, starting at 5:30 PM at the Range Beverage Company parking lot on 5th Avenue in Hurley, one block north of the post office. This includes a car show with voting by the public for two People’s Choice trophies, a 50/50 raffle, and music and karaoke from the 50’s and 60’s. All area classic cars are invited to attend the grand finale, with participants encouraged to bring a donation to the food driv, and everyone is invited to come see the cars and vote for their favorite for the People’s Choice trophies, along with donating to the food drive. The drawing for the grand prize will be held that evening – you don’t have to be present to win. Persons who wish to donate to the “Klassic Kruisers Kruisin’ for Kans” food drive who can’t make it to either of these events can drop off their donations and sign up for the drawing at Care-A-Van Convalescent Transport at 317 North Lake Street in Ironwood, Ray’s Kwik Mart Mobil, 510 2nd Avenue North in Hurley, Bessemer Auto Super Center, US 2 in Bessemer, or call Tom Ravelli at (906) 932-1865 or Linda Gustafson at (906) 364-4064 for pick up prior to September 2. |
