Norrie Street/Poplar Street Bridge Construction Begins

HURLEY, WI - Friday, August 21, 2009 - Construction has begun on the replacement of the Norrie Street/Poplar Street bridge between Ironwood and Hurley. Both streets, on the Michigan and Wisconsin sides are closed to through traffic due to the construction.

The total estimate for construction of the bridge that extends over the Montreal River is $739,568.00, of which 20% was going to be jointly paid by Iron County, Hurley and Ironwood. The 20% match, approximately 148,000.00, will be financed through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
