Slippery Road Advisory & Winter Storm Watch

MARQUETTE, MI - Wednesday, February 25, 2009 - According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, MI, a period of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain will change over to light snow through 8:00 AM before diminishing. Untreated roads and sidewalks may be slippery. If travelling this morning, allow extra time to reach your destination.

The National Weather Service in Marquette has also issued a Winter Storm Watch which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning. Expect snow to develop Thursday afternoon and continue through late Thursday night. The snow may fall heavy at times Thursday afternoon and evening and accumulate 6 inches or more before diminishing after midnight Thursday night. Also, increasing north winds to 30 mph may result in lake effect snow and considerable blowing snow lingering into Friday over Marquette and Alger counties.
