Yooper Bowl II Ends In 6-6 Tie Sunday

IRONWOOD, MI - Tuesday, February 3, 2009 - Under cloudy skies and strong winds the 2nd Annual Yooper Bowl got underway. Looked like it might be all Cardinals as they skied though the defense for a touch down on the first play of the game. Caught be surprised and unable to move the ball it was up to the Steeler defense to keep them in the game. Near the end of the 1st half the big Steeler "D" picked off a short pass and skied it in for the tie.

The second half became a defensive battle as both sides dug in and neither team was able to move the ball. Late in the 4th quarter the Cardinals missed opportunity as a TD was called back when instant replay showed a forward lateral. With minutes to play the Steelers took over the ball on the 15. Plagued with penalties and a broken ski they were unable to score as time expired.

A great time was had by all. Just one more example of how life's a little more exciting on snow! Post game celebration was homemade pies donated by teammates winnings from the Valhalla Race the day before.
