Oshkosh Women Arrested In Mail Check Scam
OSHKOSH, WI - Thursday, January 29, 2009 - Back on January 3rd and 5th the Chronicle featured articles involving a Nigerian Internet scam. The first article explained how the scam worked and the second article explained how the Chronicle scammed the scammers. Shortly after the articles appeared, U.S. Postal Authorities out of Green Bay, WI contacted the Chronicle requesting more information. The Chronicle gladly cooperated with the Authorities. According to an article appearing in the January 17th edition of the Oshkosh Northwestern, an Oshkosh woman was arrested on January 14th for operating a national mail scam out of her Oshkosh motel room. Northwestern reporter Amie Jo Schaenzer explained that 44 year-old Helen M. Loose now faces federal charges after investigators entered her Town Motel room with a search warrant.
