Wind Chill Warning In Effect Until 12:00 PM
A wind chill warning remains in effect until 12:00 PM CST/ Friday. MARQUETTE, MI - Thursday, January 15, 2009 - According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, Michigan, west to northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph and morning temperatures of 8 below to 20 below zero will produce wind chills between 25 below and 46 below zero this morning. Expect the most severe wind chills inland from Lake Superior. Wind chill readings will moderate to 15 to 25 below by mid afternoon as temperatures warm a bit to the single digits above and below zero. Expect wind chills to fall once again to 25 to 38 below zero late tonight through Friday morning as westerly winds increase to 5 to 15 mph and temperatures fall into the teens below zero away from Lake Superior. A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken. |
