Wind Chill Advisory In Effect -- Winter Weather Advisory Cancelled
MARQUETTE, MI - Saturday, January 24, 2009 - The National Weather Service in Marquette has cancelled the Winter Weather Advisory. A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until 12:00 noon CST Sunday. Snow showers will continue to diminish overnight. Plan on additional snow accumulations of less than 1 inch mainly north of Ironwood and Wakefield. Therefore, the Winter Weather Advisory has been cancelled. Expect the Mercury to bottom out from 10 below to 15 below zero by Saturday morning. However, the wind will make it feel more like 25 below to 35 below zero. Although wind chills will moderate to 15 to 20 below Saturday afternoon and early evening, the wind chill will fall to around 30 below zero again late Saturday night and Sunday morning. A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, dress in layers and make sure you wear a hat and gloves. |
