Blessid Union of Souls at Ironwood Theatre July 23rd
IRONWOOD, MI - Tuesday, July 07, 2009 - The Historic Ironwood Theatre in Ironwood, Michigan announced today that the pop rock group Bessid Union of Souls will appear in concert at the Theatre on Thursday, July 23rd at 7:30 PM. Bessid Union of Souls has established itself as one of America's premiere rural bands combining soul music and pop rock in their performances. In the mid-90s, their debut album, “Home” went gold on the music charts soon after the group's single "I Believe" became the Nation’s number one hit song. The group has released five recordings since their first album appeared and their seventh, “Close to the Edge” will appear this September on the Sony label. The new album features a number of cuts from the group’s lead singer and principal songwriter, Eliot Sloan. With their upcoming tour stop in Ironwood and other avenues of promotion, Blessid Union Of Souls fans can be reassured that they have not abandoned the songwriting integrity that helped establish them as one of the premier groups of the mid-to-late '90s. Their knack for simple, sing-along melodies can be heard in the instantly likable "I'll Be There" and their taste for intriguing subject matter is evident in songs like the opening track, "Back From The Dead," which is an emotional piece about recovery from addictions. "That one means a lot to us, especially Tony and I," admits Sloan. "He was the inspiration for that song." Information on the concert can be obtained by contacting the Historic Ironwood Theatre at (906) 932-0618 or stopping in the office at 109 East Aurora Street in Ironwood.
