Everywhere You Look -- Hurley's Improving
HURLEY, WI - Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - Everywhere you look in Hurley there are improvements. Perhaps the most noticable change is the facade upgrade and expansion of the Brite Spot 2 on the corner of US-51 and Silver Street. However, it is pretty hard to look anywhere in the City without seeing improvements. Yesterday, volunteers were busy painting the mural on the railroad bridge. The Highway facade of the Munch is in the process of receiving a fresh coat of paint. The Iron Nugget is receiving a front facade upgrade. The Beer Barrel is freshly painted in Packer colors - green and gold. Dawn's Never Inn has recently opened "Gators" Basement Bar. Spiders is expanding and the front of the building has been completely reconstructed. The newly remodeled tavern features a bright exterior digital display sign on its front facade. The Bell Chalet, in addition to the completely revamping of its exterior, has added an Italian grocery store. Sidewalk improvements have been made in addition to leveling out, blacktopping, and striping their parking lot. The Chamber of Commerce building and the Iron County Miner has also received facelifts. Everywhere you look streets are either in the process of being remodeled or have been completely redone. Several new businesses have located into the downtown as well. Hurley's downtown is truly something the City can be proud of. Area business people take pride in their businesses and it truly shows. When naming off improvements in a place where there are so many, it is very easy to miss a few. For that the Chronicle apologizes, and we welcome area business people to "blow their own horns" and let us know what is new with them.
