Have You Seen This Horse?
RAMSAY, MI - Tuesday, June 16, 2009 - The Chronicle received the following request this afternoon from one of our readers. "This might not be great news - but it crossed my mind to ask you for help because I know you have a lot of faithful readers online." "My name is Rachelle Ahmed and I live in Wakefield. My horse has gone missing since June 15th and was last seen on Hwy US 2 between the town of Ramsay and Bessemer at 7:00 AM that morning. The Gogebic Country Sheriff has been notified - and I am surprised nobody has since reported seeing a horse in their yard or on any roads. She may be traveling in the woods someplace, but I could really use some help in searching for her. She is an average size horse, female, reddish brown, one white sock on the left rear foot and wearing a green halter. She will come to anyone shaking a bucket that sounds like it has something good in it. Her name is Akeeda. She had been at a farm in North Bessemer at Everson's farm and we moved her (we actually walked her) 6 miles to my parent's farm in Ramsay on Saturday, June 13th. I suspect she was trying to make it back to her previous home in Bessemer and has now gone lost. If anyone would like to help me search or has any information on my poor missing horse - they can call me at (906) 224-1369 or (906) 364-9588. She is a very gentle horse and should be approachable provided she has not been scared half to death on her travels. Thank you for your time and consideration in reading my request and any help at all will be beneficial." UPDATE: Rachelle Ahmed called the Chronicle on Friday, June 19, 2009, at approximately 11:45 AM to report that Akeeda was found on Wednesday evening; is in good health; and is back safely at home. Rachelle asked that I pass along her gratitude to everybody who helped find her horse. |
