IEDC to Discuss Billboards, Websites, and Meat Friday

IRONWOOD, MI - Tuesday, June 16, 2009 - The Ironwood Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) will be holding its regular monthly meeting on Friday, June 19, 2009, at 9:00 AM in the Community Development Conference Room on the second floor of the Ironwood Memorial Building, 213 South Marquette Street, Ironwood, Michigan. Three basic issues will be discussed at Friday's meeting: (1) possible renewal of the Lamar billboard on US-2; (2) the Request for Proposals for City of Ironwood's website redesign; and (3) consider a loan request from Old World Meats, LLC.

At previous meetings, the IEDC made it clear that they believed the billboard on US-2 pitching the Industrial Park and the fact that there are vacant lots and a spec building available was a waste of money. Most of the IEDC members felt the money used for the billboard should be used to purchase permanent signage for the Industrial Park and to fund improved web presence on the Internet. The City has been discussing possible changes to their website for some time now. An updated website could be a valuable tool for the City for self-promotion and to let the general public know what is going on in the City of Ironwood.

Old World Meats is a newly opened meat market located on Douglas Boulevard in the Last Tangle Plaza. They feature quality fresh-cut meats; sausages of all types; cheeses; lunch meats; spices; condiments; and a variety of frozen foods.
