Exhibiting Breyer, Peter Stone, and other horse models has become a very popular activity across the United States and ‘Model Horse Shows’ are rapidly gaining in popularity in our area.

The 2009 Gogebic County Fair will include numerous model horse show classes for both youth and adults in the Exposition Building. The Spring Horse Jamboree at Gogebic Community College on April 11th will also include a Model Horse show with classes for both beginning and experienced model horse showmen. There are also numerous model horse shows held each year across the Upper Peninsula, in Northern Wisconsin, and Northern Minnesota.

On March 19th and 26th, Gogebic Community College will host classes from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on how to show Model Horses. The class is open to all horse lovers, as well as arts and crafts lovers. Model Horse Showing is popular with all ages; little girls and boys who love horses, moms and grandmas who enjoy this activity by themselves or with their children and grandchildren and even lots of men who love the creative end of the activity as well as loving horses.

The March 19th class will teach participants about different types of classes, discuss halter and performance classes, show rules and will have numerous ‘beginning’ and ‘National Show Qualifying’ show models on display.

The March 26th class will assist model owners with showing their own horses, including what classes to enter at a show and assisting with ideas for customizing performance horses.

These classes are FREE to ALL! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Children 9 & under should be accompanied by an adult.
